The Ancient Chaldean Astrologer’s Magickal Square of the Sun is an iSpy Camera App film in 36 verses.
The Unintended Consequences of Living on the First Floor Apartment is an installation of personal experience embedded into the public landscape, viewed through a (de)constructed apartment.
Diogenes was a greek philosopher known as the Cynic. Among many things he was known for carrying a lantern in the daytime, looking for an honest man. DuChamp worked on Étant donnés (Given) for twenty years and only revealed his masterpiece posthumously by leaving his work and instructions to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is only visible through a pair of peepholes in a wooden door and contains a woman lying on her back (reminiscent of Courbet’s The Origin of the World) holding a lantern.
The Unintended Consequences of Living on the First Floor Apartment pays homage to a legacy of thinkers who confront us with our natural curiosity to know the world by questioning our part in it. The work is a (de)constructed apartment. A door with an inverted peephole shows surveillance footage of a woman in her apartment. Relics surrounding invite you to pry into the life of one among many, sometimes painfully obvious and sometimes barely discernible. But all inviting you to look closer to find an honest man.
